How-to guide

TL;DR
Yes, you can override the AI in an Xnurta AI managed group, and Xnurta MCP lets you do it from Claude or ChatGPT. This guide is for Amazon advertisers who run bids, budgets and search terms every week and want to know what the AI is set to do before it does it. Each group has settings you can read and change through MCP, and you can switch the AI off for a whole group with one sentence.
Both, and you hold the switches. An Xnurta AI managed group has an AI status (off, on or paused) and a set of action spaces, such as placement bid adjustment, dayparting bid adjustment, performance-based bid adjustment, budget dynamics, negative targeting, target harvesting and structure optimization. Each action space can run as a rule or as AI, and you choose which ones are on.
Xnurta MCP connects Claude, ChatGPT and other MCP clients to your Xnurta data, and that includes these groups. You read how a group is set up, then change most of it by asking. If you have not connected yet, Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Xnurta MCP walks through it.
One limit to know now. Through MCP you can move an action space from Rule to AI, but not from AI back to Rule. Turning the AI off for the whole group is a separate move, and that one is available.
Plenty, and reading changes nothing. Queries on settings, performance and the operation log are read only, so you can look as long as you like.
For each group you can pull the ID, name, AI status, target ACOS, goal, targeting type, AI personality, creator, creation time and campaign count. You also get when the AI was switched on and off, and every action-space toggle. At campaign level you can see whether the AI created the campaign and when AI last started and stopped on it. Performance queries add AI-managed sales, ACOS and ROAS per campaign, and you can group results by managed group.
Prompt: read how every group is set
List every AI managed group in ad account [account name] with its AI status, goal, target ACOS, AI personality, campaign count and which action spaces are on.
Prompt: AI-managed ACOS against target
For ad account [account name], compare AI-managed ACOS with target ACOS for each managed group over the last [30] days. Show each group's AI personality next to the numbers.
Most of the edit page, grouped the way the edit page groups it. You can change several groups in one request, though some changes may be skipped while the AI is running, so read the group back afterward.
| Section | What you can change through MCP |
|---|---|
| Basics | Group name, AI status, AI personality |
| Goal | The group's goal and its target ACOS |
| Campaigns | Total budget for the group, campaign name marker, and which campaigns belong to the group (add, remove or assign) |
| AI action space | Turn an action space on or off, and move it from Rule to AI (not from AI to Rule) |
| Schedule | Add a schedule to the group |
| Template | Create a new group from a template |
| Delete | Archive the whole group, which cannot be undone |
Two areas stay in the Xnurta platform: brand, non-brand and competitor mode, and all word-list features. Your assistant cannot change them through MCP, so make those edits in the platform.
You read it like any other setting and change it in the same request that edits the group. Personality sits next to name and AI status in the basics, so one query shows it for every group in an ad account.
Put it beside results. The second prompt above lines up personality, target ACOS and AI-managed ACOS in one table, which is the fastest way to see whether a setting matches what the group is doing. Change one group at a time. If you edit three at once, you will not know which edit moved the numbers.
You pick the smallest lever that does the job. From widest to narrowest:
Editing a single campaign's own budget or bids is a different kind of write, with its own permission scope. Edit Amazon campaigns in bulk through an AI assistant covers that side.
Deleting is final
Deleting a managed group archives it, and archiving cannot be undone. To stop the AI for now, set its AI status to off instead.
It should show you the plan first, and you should insist. Managed group changes modify your account configuration. Ask the assistant to list the group, target ACOS, AI status, action space and campaign list it plans to change, then confirm. Anything involving money, bids or archiving always returns a preview first: which objects, and from which value to which value. Nothing is submitted until you confirm.
Prompt: change target ACOS, preview first
In ad account [account name], change the target ACOS of managed group [group name] from [current]% to [new]%. Show me the group, the current and new values, its AI status, action spaces and campaign list before you submit anything, and wait for my confirmation.
Prompt: stop the AI on one group
Turn AI off for managed group [group name] in ad account [account name]. Show me what you will change first and wait for my confirmation. When it is done, read the group back and confirm its AI status is off.
You ask the operation log. It holds human and AI actions on campaigns, ad groups, targets, bids, budgets and managed groups, and you can filter by entity type, operator and action type. Entity type "managed group" plus operator "AI" gives you the AI's activity on your groups. The log is a record of what happened and when. Whether it was the right call is your judgment, and your numbers settle it.
Prompt: what the AI did on my groups
From the operation log for ad account [account name], list every action the AI took on managed groups over the last [14] days. Show the group, the action type and the time.
Who changed my Amazon campaign? shows how to split AI, human and automation rule changes on a single campaign.
Write access on your account. Writing comes in three kinds: managed group management, ad editing, and creating Sponsored Products campaigns. Each kind has its own permission scope, so a connection that can edit ads cannot necessarily create campaigns, and your connection needs the scope for the kind of write you ask for.
The access rule
Generally available from 27 Oct for Sponsored Ads. Write access is turned on per account by your CSM.
After your CSM switches write access on, remove the Xnurta connector and add it again, or create a new token with the scope you need. Signing in again on the old connector keeps the old permissions. Then ask the assistant to update your Xnurta skills.
The official skills for this work are Create AI Managed Group, Edit AI Managed Group and Delete AI Managed Group. If you want to know which access to start with, Read-only vs read-write MCP for Amazon advertisers answers that.
FAQ
Yes, once write access is on for your account. Ask the assistant to set the group's AI status to off, remove campaigns from the group, or turn one action space off.
An action space can run as a rule or as AI, and you control which ones are on. Through MCP you can move an action space from Rule to AI, but not from AI back to Rule.
Brand, non-brand and competitor mode, and all word-list features, stay in the Xnurta platform. The settings in the table above can be changed through MCP.
No. Deleting a managed group archives it, and archiving cannot be undone, so set the AI status to off if you only want the AI to stop.
Anything involving money, bids or archiving returns a preview first and runs only after you confirm. For other group settings, ask the assistant to list what it plans to change and wait for your go-ahead.
